Ali is a Lecturer of Accounting and Finance based in the Faculty of Business and Law, De Montfort University Dubai Campus. He was previously a Visiting Lecturer at Cardiff Metropolitan University, Solent University and Birmingham City University.

He qualified as Chartered Certified Accountant from ACCA and spent more than 10 years in the audit industry across different jurisdictions including the UK, Jersey, the Middle East and Pakistan. He worked with Deloitte, BDO, Mazars, Baker Tilly and National Audit Office, UK.

Ali also holds MSc in Professional Accountancy from the University of London, Master in Islamic Finance Practice from INCEIF University Malaysia and MA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Bari Aldo Moro, Italy.
